Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening is one of our most popular cosmetic dental treatments, which is not surprising as it is a safe, effective treatment that can lighten your teeth to create a more youthful and healthy appearance. This makes it a great option for anyone who has dark or discoloured teeth or would like to boost their confidence in their smile. Many people choose to do this before a special day or a big event.

At Wigginton Dental Practice we use the Whitewash Laboratories Home Whitening System. which uses a gel containing both the active whitening ingredient (carbamide peroxide) and a desensitiser which helps to reduce sensitivity during treatment. Together with your personally fitted whitening trays this allows you to whiten your teeth at home, either by wearing the trays during the day or even while you are asleep. It generally takes a week or less to start getting noticeable results and treatment can usually be completed in between two and four weeks.

The whitening agent works by breaking down the discoloured molecules within your teeth, removing their staining effect. Whitening does not damage or weaken teeth in any way. The whitening system we use contains both potassium nitrate and fluoride which help strengthen the enamel and maintain its health throughout the process.

Once whitening is completed it is possible to “top up” the whiteness of your teeth whenever you wish simply by purchasing top-up whitening syringes from our practice and using your personal whitening trays.

Quick Straight Teeth

Do your teeth stop you from smiling? Do you want a straighter smile?

If the answer is ‘YES’ then ask us about Quick Straight Teeth. Many people would like a straighter more even smile but are put off by the thought of prolonged treatment, the need to have teeth removed, or wearing metal braces. Quick Straight Teeth™ teeth is an effective and comfortable way of straightening your teeth to improve your smile.

The discreet, almost invisible braces work by concentrating on the front 6 to 8 teeth while leaving the back teeth in place, meaning that treatment time is shortened to six months on average, reducing the cost when compared to traditional orthodontics. As only lighter forces are needed to move front teeth they are comfortable to wear. Thanks to the tooth-coloured brackets and wires. people will often be unable to tell you are wearing braces at all!

We offer a complementary consultation with Dr Jon Martin if you want to discuss whether this treatment might be suitable for you.

The best way to find out is to book a complementary consultation. Quick Straight Teeth works best for peoplee who have slightly protruding front teeth or mild to moderate crowding of their teeth. Quick Straight Teeth works well even where teeth have had fillings or other repairs in the past. Your teeth do need to be healthy and free of any problems before treatment can start.

Initially it will be necessary to check that your teeth are completely healthy and can be straightened safely. These checks can also involve taking X-rays and photographs. It is also worth discussing with your dentist at this stage if you have any particular hopes or wishes for your treatment so this can be taken into account in your treatment plan

Your records will be sent to the QST laboratory where your custom-made braces will be produced using replica models of your own teeth. These models will also be used to accurately calculate the movement required for each tooth to achieve the desired straightening effect.

The braces arrive in a customised tray kit with brackets and wires already precisely positioned. The dentist will apply adhesive bond to your teeth and will then hold the tray in place to let this set, so that the braces are held in securely.

Throughout the treatment you will need regular appointments with your dentist – these re fairly short but allow them to minitor progress and make any adjustments necessary

Yes you will. Teeth have a tendency to continually move throughout a lifetime so the more we can do to prevent that, the better. Both a fixed retainer bonded to the back of the teeth, as well as a removable gumshield-type retainer to wear at night are included as part of our treatment package.

Our treatment fee is £1300 for either top or bottom teeth, or £2500 for both. This includes any X-rays or photos that are necessary, a visit with the hygienist to help you clean your braces, and as many appointmets that are needed. It also includes both a fixed and removable retainer at the end of treatment to protect your new smile. We can arrange a payment plan that runs as treatment progresses, so treatment costs can be as little as £260 per month for five months.

AirFlow and Perioflow Cleaning and Stain Removal

Keeping Gums and Teeth Healthy Using The Power Of Air

What is Air-Flow?

Air-Flow is a professional stain removal system that tackles stubborn stains, which are difficult to remove with normal teeth whitening methods.

Is it right for me?

Air-Flow treatment is for anyone looking for healthier teeth, healthier gums and a brighter smile. From light staining to more severe stains; Air-Flow significantly improves tooth brightness, giving you a noticeably, sparkling, healthy mouth.

How does it work?

Using a special Erythritol powder, air, and a gentle jet stream of water; Air-Flow gently and painlessly removes surface stains caused by tobacco, food and drink. You will immediately see and feel the difference.

Does it Hurt?

No. The Airflow unit directs a fine spray of water and powder onto the surface of the teeth. The unit even pre-warms the water to reduce sensitivity. Even people who generally find dental cleaning very sensitive or require numbing prior to cleaning find that they can have their teeth cleaned comfortably using this method.

Can Airflow be used to treat gum disease?

This is one of the major benefits of Airflow. The cleaning action removes the sticky sheet of bacteria, known as “biofilm”, that sits around teeth and gums. This biofilm develops when dental plaque is colonised by bacteria and is the main cause of gum disease. Breaking down this biofilm has been shown to be a crucial aspect in treating gum disease and keeping gums and teeth healthy. Where there are deep pockets around the teeth as a result of gum disease, the special Perioflow nozzle is able to flex and adapt to clean even awkward spaces under the gum line.

Perioflow Cleaning Under The Gum

I have dental implants. Can I still have Airflow treatment?

Yes! The powder used with Airflow is so gentle that, unlike regular scalers, it is safe to use with dental implants with no risk of scratching or scuffing. It is a great way of keeping implants, and the gums supporting them, clean and healthy
