We are always happy to welcome new patients.   Whether you want to visit is to help you maintain a healthy mouth, for cosmetic dentistry or because you are nervous, we can help.

When you join the practice, we will book an initial consultation appointment with one of our dentists.  This is so much more than just checking your teeth.  We will start by asking you about your concerns, whether you have any dental problems and how long they have been going on.  We want to understand any dental issues or concerns you may have to work out the, so the more information you can share with us, the better.

Next we will ask you about your medical history as we know that dental health and general health have a significant effect on each other.  Once we have a full background we will begin to examine you,  We check around the outside of your mouth first for any signs of infection or problems.  Next we perform a full examination of the inside of your mouth, including all your teeth and the supporting gums.  Gum disease is the commonest reason for adults to lose teeth, so this gum health-check is particularly important in planning the correct preventive advice and treatment.

After this we will commonly need to take some images with an X-ray machine and often with a digital camera as well – all included as part of the appointment.  This gives us the information we need to assess your dental health now, and to monitor it in the future for changes.
