Access with limited mobility or disabilites

Are you finding dental appointments difficult or can’t find a dentist that can accomodate you?  Is limited mobility or movement a problem?

Visiting a dentist can be difficult if you have problems with mobility or other disabilities. At Wigginton Dental Practice our facilities, staff and services have adapted to overcome many of these issues. We are passionate about making regular dental care comfortable, accessible and enjoyable for as many people as possible.

We have free parking in our car park at the back of the practice and on the streets next to it. We also have a dedicated parking area at the front of the building for anyone who needs to be close to the entrance. Parking next to the ramp, the walk into the practice is just a few steps, using an access ramp with hand-rails.

We can also offer assistance between you vehicle and the practice; just phone reception when you arrive and we will be happy to assist. We are also happy to help arrange taxi services for you after your appointment.

Inside, we have equipped our ground floor surgery with a number of accesible features.

The dental chair has a foldaway leg rest and arm rest and adjustable height to allow wheelchair access as well as easy sitting or standing without the need to twist.

Many people find lying back for dental treatment difficult or uncomfortable and this can be a major source of anxiety or concern about visiting the dentist. We are able to overcome this. We can provide most aspects of dental care without the need to lay fully flat, working in a semi-reclined position as shown, and can work with the adjustable head support and cushions where necessary to ensure your comfort.

We have easy-to-see screens installed in surgery. We can use these to show images, videos and X-rays where they will help you to understand your dental care and keep your teeth and mouth healthy, and we can also use these to help with communication if you are hearing-impaired

We also have a disabled-friendly toilet facilites with arm supports and our reception is designed with a variety of seating to suit all needs and a wheelchair-friendly desk counter.

If you have any questions or concerns, or want to talk about how we can help you or someone you know then we are happy to discuss things with you. You can call our Access Coordinator Jane and our reception team on 01904 764 539 or you can contact us through the website here
