Meet the team

We are very proud of our friendly, happy team here at Wigginton Dental Practice. We all work well together, to create a professional and welcoming atmosphere. Many of our patients appreciate the fact that most of us have been at the practice for many years: it’s always nice to see a familiar face!

All of the team regularly participate in training and professional education, to support and develop their knowledge and skills in dentistry.

After qualifying at Leeds in 2002, Jon worked in the Lake District for a couple of years before moving to Yorkshire.  Jon and his family have lived in Wigginton since 2012.

Jon has completed a number of postgraduate qualifications including a Diploma in Restorative Dentistry with the Royal College of Surgeons and a Postgraduate Certificate in Endodontics with the University of Chester. Jon enjoys all aspects of general and family dentistry, and also provides cosmetic dentistry and teeth straightening treatments for adults.

Jon spends his spare time with his wife and two young daughters. He enjoys taking them to the theatre, reading, and is a supporter of Leeds Rhinos, with a soft spot for York Knights.  He also plays golf very badly.

BDS (Newcastle) MJDF (RCS Eng) – GDC number 244172

Charlotte qualified from Newcastle in 2013, and was awarded the prize for the most promising undergraduate by the British Paediatric Society. She then practiced in York on a fixed one-year contract, before joining the team at Wigginton in August 2014. She offers all general dental services and is also trained to give botox and dermal fillers.

Charlotte passed the Diploma of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties (MJDF) in December 2014. This is a well recognised assessment of knowledge and skills, based on a demanding examination with a low pass rate. It consists of two separate parts and is  spread over a minimum of six months. Charlotte passed her exams first time, and feels that this qualification has helped to improve her dental skills and improve the clinical service she offers to her patients. It also entitles her to membership of the Royal College of Surgeons.

Outside of work, Charlotte plays netball for York City Netball Club, is a gym-goer and loves to travel and socialise with friends.

Celia qualified from Newcastle Dental School in 2006.  After a year in Lincoln completing her postgraduate training, Celia moved to York and has worked in general dental practice in the area ever since.

Celia joined the practice in 2022.  She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry.  She especially enjoys getting to know her patients, and helping people with dental anxiety to conquer their fear of the dentist.

Celia lives in Haxby with her husband and two daughters.  In her spare time she enjoys reading, puzzles, and trying to garden.

Grace is a warm and approachable dentist dedicated to delivering high quality dental care.  She graduated in Glasgow and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Chester.  She has also completed a year long part-time course in Aesthetic Dentistry in London.  She is passionate about digital dentistry and the use of technology, from 3D scanning to digital smile design, in order to enhance comfort and communication during dental treatment.

Outside the clinic, Grace enjoys eating out and countryside walks with her fluffy dog Peggy.

Katie, our hygienist, qualified in 1998 from Leeds Dental Institute. She has worked at a number of practices – joining the Wigginton team in 2000 – and has given oral health education talks at schools and pre-schools across York. Katie is a member of the British Hygienist’s Association, and continues to broaden and update her knowledge at post-graduate courses.

Out of work Katie enjoys family life, reading, holidays and catching up with friends.

Dip Dent Hygiene 2005 – GDC number 6690

Andrea, our hygienist, studied at Leeds Met. University for a CertHE in Health Sciences then at Newcastle University for her Dental Hygiene training.  After qualifying in 2005 she moved back to York, where she has worked for over 13 years, before taking a hiatus to pursue other interests.  During this time she kept up her professional development and registration, and has now come back to the profession with full eagerness.

Away from work, Andrea enjoys her time with her 2 young children, often getting out for walks and exploring.  She enjoys listening to podcasts and getting to live gigs and concerts when she can, and hopes to resume her interests in motorbikes and running.

Rachel has nearly 20 years of experience as a dental nurse and gained her National Diploma in 2007.  In 2018 Rachel qualified as an Oral Health Educator.

Outside work she loves wildlife, especially the birds and hedgehogs in her garden, and of course the ducks in Wigginton and Haxby duck ponds. Rachel is married and has two young daughters.

Sarah is fully qualified dental nurse with over 20 years experience. She previously worked with Keith in St Mary’s Practice and came to Wigginton in 1997. Sarah works both as a Nurse and a Receptionist.

Her hobbies include swimming, travel, reading and cooking.

Sam was delighted to rejoin Wigginton Dental Practice in July 2021 having started her dental career at the practice.  She is both a qualified dental nurse and a qualified oral health educator with over 10 years of experience, and works as both a Nurse and Receptionist.

Sam enjoys going to the theatre, reading and catching up with friends and family.  She also enjoys travelling, particularly visiting and exploring new countries.

Lauren joined the practice in July 2019, having worked as a dental nurse for five years previously.

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys travelling. Her favourite destination so far is India. Lauren also enjoys family time and days out with her two children.

Leanne joined the practice in November 2020.  She has many years of experience in dental nursing, and achieved her nursing qualification in 2015

Leanne enjoys spending time with her family and friends.  She loves travelling and exploring different places and is a keen mountain biker.

Claire joined the practice in 2017, after many years working as a dental nurse in York and in retail.

Claire is kept busy by her son and husband.

Lauren joined the practice in 2023, although we have known her for far longer than that as she is Katie our hygienist’s daughter.  Lauren completed her dental nursing diploma while working at the practice .

Away from work, Lauren enjoys socialising with her family and friends, going on holiday to Ibiza and playing tennis.

Michaela joined the practice in 2022, having worked as a dental nurse for nearly 20 years in various practices around York.

Michaela enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Jo started dental nursing in 2004 and has never looked back  since!  Jo loves spending time with her daughter and family on days out.  In her spare time Jo enjoys reading, diamond painting and watching movies.

Chrissie  joined the practice as a qualified dental nurse, having previously worked in the dental industry for the past 7 years. As well as nursing in surgery, Chrissie has a passion for customer service and is part of our reception team.

Outside of work, Chrissie enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.  She enjoys going to the theatre and listening to live music.  She is the practice’s resident expert in film and movie knowledge.

Angie joined the practice in 2024.  She has many years of experience working in both the healthcare and beauty fields.

Angie is an expert in advanced Zumba and is an enthusiastic gourmand in Turkish cuisine.
